For Gaudi, who blew my mind.

Schizophrenic or embryonic?
Far ahead of the game, pushing boundaries, taking blame,
New ideas tumbling out of his brain:
Sensuous curves, ergonomic design, madness and genius closely aligned.
Immense imagination, ridiculed at the start,
Personal dedication, moderniste works of art.
Illumination, ventilation became his daily prayer
An anarchic architect wholly unaware that others would have issues
With his vague, organic plans.
His ascetic existence and religious fervour
Designed the Sagrada for his beloved Saviour.
An innovative artist who honoured nature’s forms,
A Catalan nationalist, a true son of Spain
Will we ever see his like again?
