George looked me in the eye
And said to me,
I’m going to study palaeontology.
I took this very seriously,
As believe me –
George is not to be trifled with.
He regaled me with knowledge of
Tyrannosaurus and brachiosaurus,
Pterodactyls, diplodocus and more.
George could never be considered a bore.
He read their names effortlessly,
And to make it easier for me
Changed their length and height,
With eyes shut tight,
Into double-decker buses,
So that I could see more clearly
Just how huge they were.
George is quite pedantic –
I hope on my next visit
I’m not subjected to a test
For I would surely fail.
George is five
And very clever,
He’d never lie to me.
One day I’m sure he’ll be
Professor of Palaeontology
At a respected university
But just for now, he’s fast asleep.
