Four Weeks On

Emotionally drained from the strain,
The pain of losing you,
Still stunned at the suddenness
Of your departure:
Death lay claim while life was still so full
And years lay yet ahead,
Years of richness,
Of French-Welshness,
Family celebrations and
Grand-children-time.
Who knows what wonders you now see,
Whether earthly memories
Are part of heavenly existence
Or eclipsed by God’s radiance
In the magnificence
Of a place we cannot be.
Rest in peace my sister, in this holy land –
And while you see God face to face
I know He’s still holding my hand.
