Time has flown
Since I lay awake
The night before your birth
Wondering if you were a boy or a girl
And decided I didn’t care
As long as you were there.
Fast forward thirty years,
My baby girl has grown
Into a self-confident
Fully qualified teacher,
Joining the family tradition
But doing it your own way
Monday to Friday.
Some things don’t change,
You still come home
Eager to share your day,
Who said what and when and why
And did I know the Visigoths
Wore cloaks fastened with bone –
At least I’ll never be alone!
Happy 30th birthday
Darling girl of mine,
Much lies ahead
Of this I’m assured –
Take it all in your stride
With a smile on your face
Living your life
In God’s good grace.

beautifully said as a mother should ,because our children don’t age – they just become more connected to us.
