Kitty and me
We share fleas,
She snores as she sleeps
And she wriggles round a lot,
She howls if she’s left
And she pees in my veggie plot!
She hides in my shopping bag
To fool nasty coffee staff
And bites naughty children
Just to give her Dad a laugh!
She’s loving and loyal
And eager to please us all,
Eats special chihuahua food,
Drinks no alcohol,
Takes me out walking
But doesn’t like the rain a woof
Needs a Mac and wellies
To make her waterproof!
I love this cwtchy
Long-haired little girlie
Fleas are irrelevant
‘Cos she loves unconditionally!!

Love is a precious commodity
More valuable than rare jewels
Yet shines just as bright,
Revealing rainbows of light
Reflecting off multi-faceted sides.
This valuable gift
Asks for trust in return,
Grows stronger than desire
To shine ever brighter
And mellow slowly, slowly,
Into a contented old-age.
True love is as old gold:
A reliable and solid support,
‘Though it cannot be bought
Nor can it be earned.
Love can only be shared,
Love not shared will die,
Sowing seeds of discontentment.
Shared love spreads and grows
Like ripples in a pond
Moving ever outwards
To distant shores,
Continuing to light the darkness.

1 Peter 4:8 ‘Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.’
We have had the great, good luck
To be blessed with neighbours
Who became friends;
We laughed together,
Shared family stories,
Good friends are a God-send.
Placed to share our lives a while
And help our children play,
To guide us each time we ask;
To pray with us,
And laugh with us
With our families far away.
God has promised each of us
That he will call us home.
Sleep well, dear friend,
I know your faith will see you true,
The hands that hold you closely now
Will hold us one day too.

Why is the sky grey today
When it’s normally powder blue?
It really is blue but I’m seeing through
My thoughts; distraught in my mind,
I find I’m low and I’m slow to see
The beauty of creation around me.
Lack of colour makes the day grey,
I need to make it go away but
It’s hard to lift my mood.
I need a feel-good factor to kick in fast
But no-one’s asked me why I’m down.
Then friends come round and make me smile
And right on cue the sky turns blue.

“… When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss gazes into you.”
Good friends sit lightly on life’s strands,
Always on hand to catch you when you fall:
A hidden treasure to be uncovered,
A forever love, rediscovered, time and time again,
A spider’s web sparkle in the dreary, winter’s rain.
You’re feeling down and all looks grey
And nothing within your day lifts your spirit.
There’s so much stuff within your life
You try to be the perfect wife and mother
And hold yourself together from day to day –
But that’s the thing about being human,
None of us were chosen to walk through life alone.
Life is easier with support; so court your web,
Lean on your friends, the means justify the end.

Wayne he is a gaming fan, a very clever man
He’s working hard to build his personal pension plan.
Communication is his very own Achilles heel;
The cry goes out, ‘Where’ Wayne’ we ask, that man is so unreal!
He’s hiding in the lab again
He does from time to time
He’ll be playing with his games engine
And sipping soda lime.
He’s not a man of many words, prefers HTML,
He’s even moved his office desk to avoid the doorbell,
He’d rather zone out and get on with his game.
The cry goes, out, ‘Where’s Wayne’ we ask; but, all the same,
We wouldn’t change him for the world, we’d rather look and lose,
‘Tis better to have loved and lost, and to be bemused
A game of hide and seek enlivens up our day
We really wouldn’t have it another way!

‘Young Timothy’ I call him,
He’s the oldest one of us
A wise and loving father figure, he never makes a fuss
He always has the answer to whatever we don’t know
He is getting older but those grey hairs just don’t show!
There’s nothing Young Timothy cannot sort out –
From Excel to ECDL; just give him a shout!
He even showed me yesterday where I was going wrong –
How to mail a photo from my iPhone to Hong Kong.
He’s a real old fashioned gentleman, very well brought up
You’ll never hear him swear or shout or make a real muck up.
A milder mannered man you surely will not meet
Young Timothy is a pleasure and my secret little treat
As he always says a cheery ‘Good morning, Angie’
It makes my day that he shows his care for me.
